A worthwhile BFI collection with added features that enhance the package and emphasize Naruse's status as a director.
The three films here are great examples of the work of Mikio Naruse, an important but somewhat neglected director of post-war Japanese cinema. The three films in this set provide a wide perspective on his work, that align him with, but distinguish his work from the films of Ozu and Mizoguchi.

An epic crime thriller serial that shows the way for the modern high-tech "block-buster".
I found this to be a surprisingly well crafted product that even being made over a hundred years ago shows a high degree of creativity and suspense that hold up well.
