Outstanding directions and the right parts!
The directions by Mr. Fargo were as important as the repair parts. It took me a few hours to undertake the repair, but it went smoothly because of the detailed step-by-step instructions. I have an early 850 Carousel and thought I would have an easy job of fixing it - just with the replacement parts, since I helped design the autofocus system for the Carousel Projector almost 60 years ago.
At Kodak, I designed the electronics, photocell configuration, and unique self damping servo motor. I worked with a terrific person who created the autofocus function for the Carousel Projector, Frank Kottler, with support from his draftsman/designer, Fritz Leutung, and chief optical designer, Bill Ewald.
Thank you to Curt Fargo for helping rejuvenate a pretty nice family of slide projectors from the 1960’s.
