A classic in 3D
1 von 1 finden das hilfreich I'm not going to go on and on about Top Gun, but I will comment on its 3D version. Obviously, Top Gun was not shot in 3D. It has been digitally remastered for 3D. Personally, I found the 3D version to be grainy and washed out. The colors aren't nearly as vibrant as they should be in my opinion. Yes, it's still cool to watch the jets fly around in 3D, but don't expect this version to hold up against more recent films originally released in 3D. It's still Top Gun of course, but I for the disappointing video quality I have to give the 3D version only 3 stars.

DS-2114 - good starter scope
3 von 3 finden das hilfreich I purchased this telescope for a young cousin who is finding an interest in astronomy. I thought that the goto capabilities of this scope would help keep her from being discouraged in the persuite of heavenly bodies.
Out of the box, the telescope was easy to assemble and its construction seems sturdy. While the instructions are a bit less than satisfactory, the included DVD provides enough help to allow a novice user to beggin using the telescope.
Instructions indicate to level the scope and point it North and the rest of the setup is supposed to be automatic. As with all the goto scopes that I have had experience with, this telescope requires far more attention in the setup process than the instruction imply. If the scope is not exactly level, it will not slew correctly to heavenly objects no matter how accurate the two star allignment, and the user will be disapointed. Carful attention in the leveling and north aiming process will ensure that you get your target somewhere near the field of view.
Once aligned, this telescope produces very nice views. Befroe passing it on to my cousin, I set the scope up and used it to view the Moon and Saturn as well as the Great Orion Nebula. All were stunning through the included eye piece. The telescpe's object tracking once you have the object centered in the eyepiece, is ok, no where near the proformance of my LX200 (and much louder) but sufficient for a first scope.
My biggest complaint about this scope, besides the fact that set up is tempermental, is that the red dot finder scope on this scope moves quite a bit in its bracket, rendering it virtually useless. One moment it points here and the next there. Even after a good bit of messing and aiming, the red dot is good only for ball park work.
My cousin was very excited about the included USB cam, though I did not get a chance to use it myself. I expect that it will work similarly to the LPI from Meade except for the fact that this cam has its own corded shutter button.
The telescope also works well without power to just point and view.
For the price, I would recomend this telescope as a good starter telescope for anyone interested in astronomy. It does not really compare with it's $1000 brothers, but it's wide apature means that you can see objects in the sky that smaller goto scopes only hint at. If you are looking to get into serious astography, this is not the telescope for you. If you are looking for an inexpensive way to get a start into astronomy and play with the possibilities, this telescope has a lot to offer.
