Best compact passenger van Expo and Expo LRV
1 von 1 finden das hilfreich Good questions: I owned a new 1993 Eagle Summit DL Wagon. It is a clone of the Expo LRV. Wonderful Car/van/wagon. Sat up high, lots of headroom, sits 5 passengers cavernous cargo area. Just a joy to drive 1.8 liter engine gives 30 MPG. Back seat folds and tumbles forward giving even more cargo area.
DISLIKES: If you are going to buy one of these Expo or LRV make sure to buy one with a 5-SPD manual transmission. In 119,000 I went through two transmissions. You look at the ones on eBay almost half have AUTO transmission problems. The auto trany does not do much for pickup either with the 1.8 ltr.
Last year I bought a 1992 Expo 7 passenger. You trade out a little head room but its not bad. I made sure I did not buy one till I found one with a manual. One other caution only in 1992 Mitsubishi used a 2.4 ltr 4G64 8 Valve engine. Very hard to get parts for esp on eBay. From 1993 till 1996 the 2.4's got 16 valve 4G64 engines. Parts are plentifully as are engines. If your engine wears out you can get a low miles engine on ebay for a song.
My favorite is the 7 passenger expo. There is little cargo room when you get all those folks in the car. Those in the third seat must be 2 small children. Its a great car when you find one. 4 doors.
LRV's are nice too if you only need room for 5.
There have been a few problems with clicks and pops coming out of the front suspension If forget if it was the stabilizer links or ball joints. Not a real bad issue though.
My 92 has a lot of pickup with the manual. I bought mine from MN/St Paul so it is a real rust bucket. anyone got one for sale?

Honda Bah Humbug

Dislikes---Trannys-I'm on my 3rd one. Catalytic converter went out. ERG system malfunctioned. Rear manual doors stick and they can't fix them, except to place grease on the weather stripping. Cup Holder flaps are always wearing out and they cost $5 for one flap and are very time consuming to replace. The cloth is coming off the vinyl panels on the sides. Back cup holder are owful and allow drinks to fall out. Rear wiper started making loud noise after I bought it... they replaced it (reluctantly) now 7 years later its making it again! Front door "stays" are worthless. Door wont stay open and are slamming shut while you are in the way.
Yeah I do have a few likes: it is comfortable front to back. You can slide 4X8 sheets of building materials into it and still close the hatch. Honda did stand behind the trannys, C Converter and ERG issues. Front tray table is great. The well in the back area. Easy access to engine (but still cramped for timing belt change).
I'm sorry I spent 26K on this my first (and last) Honda! If Honda's are so reliable, how come they only come with a 3 year 36K Bumper to bumper warranty?
I'd love to get rid of it before it costs me more money but my wife pointed out with loan interest, we have a hole lot $$$ tied up in this lemon.

POT AND SWITCH
Well that is what it is. A Potentiometer and a Switch. My original had a bad spot in it (the pot) and the Check Engine Light never came on, to point out the culprit. After months I was finally able to put two and two together. Replace the TPS and adjusted the switch. Everything is fine now. Blessings, John 20:29
