cushion fitment
these fit my saltwater rods that have the aluminum butts - but just barely. they won't go past the junction where the aluminum stops and the foam grip starts which means the rod won't bottom out in the cushion unless the cushion is trimmed a little. i have a few brands of rods and they all fit the same. they won't fit any of my rods that have rubber butts because they are too small and don't stretch much at all. they are made of good quality foam and offer adequate padding just be aware of the size...

multicolor rocks!
very smooth, tough line. the bright colors make it easy to target your depth. great for offshore and in freshwater too. i use it on my daiwa bg4500 saltwater combo with a mono backing.

detailed description
the length is such that they fit fairly close to the top of a standard rod holder which makes it easier to remove the rod when it is under load since it is not too high above the boat surface. the angle puts them almost straight out and parallel to the water so you get the maximum spread. it works well for bottom fishing and trolling but if you had some line out and a fish decided to surface and circle the boat your rod would likely come out because the holder does not angle up very much at all. if you are paying attention you would already have your rod in your hands unless you had several fish on at once. the securing strap would save your rod and it goes through a hole in the body where it is fastened to a metal ring that is larger than the hole which keeps it from pulling out. the spring clip at the other end is heavy duty and will fit lots of places on a reel. it ls long enough to allow removal of the rod even if the strap is wrapped around the rod which i do on my spinning reels since there is no real clip point on them. the strap could be replaced easily with other cords should it get frayed or cut or whatever. very good overall finish and very strong and it has the notches to prevent turning in the rod holder. there is a white plastic liner to protect the rod. the gimbals on all my rods place the reels at angles of about 45 degrees to the water. this means that of the two useable positions one places the reel handle down towards the water and the other places the reel handle up which is where i set mine. this means the reel itself is not parallel to the water but is tilted about 45 degrees (side to side). not a problem except if you are using a roller rod whose tip does not rotate. the rod tilt may cause the line to pull agaist the side of the tip roller. in this case you can rotate the rod so the reel handle is positioned down which solves the tip problem but then makes it a little more difficult to get to the reel handle to make adjustments. not a big deal....
