Total greatness of a musical era of great memories with rocking gems and crowning achievements
How can you possibly sum up an album of such magnitude and greatness? In this case, such is this album musically in that Robert Plant himself often refers to this double album effort with only the highest praise; in that he calls it his favorite Led Zeppelin album. For myself, believing that in having more than just some credibility as a d.j. and lead operator of an online classic rock radio station, we constantly find ourselves going back to these songs time and time again. Simply put, it is greatness of its own musical essence and reputation. I often view it as two separate albums in one, the first which I call the daytime, and the second the nighttime disc. Highlights on one hit you immediately and fast with Custard Pie (a straight rocker) and The Rover - a bluesy dirge. For me it hits its peak on the daytime with Trampled Under Foot (amazing track and one personal favorite) and Kashmir closes it out with a highly experimental journey into Arabic and middle eastern rhythms. For the second, the nighttime opens up with In the Light, a great one, into Bron Yr Aur and Down by the Seaside, which transition and flow as one together perfectly. Ten Years Gone is no doubt the highest point of Zeppelin's own lofty achievements, and just says it all summing up their own prophetic run of ten years together. I also highly recommend The Wanton Song and Night Flight as fun and rocking on their own merits. To end in wrapping it up, an absolutely classic of a gem, a must -have in any means possible; and above all, an album never to be overlooked or underestimated musically speaking in all aspects, and the sheer magnitude and volume of the presence of its power.

'Simply top flight; a greatest flagship time capsule example of new wave and a time that was...
1 von 1 finden das hilfreich Simply amazing; just recently viewed the timeless posting of the live at the ritz - NYC concert of March 1986 of 'Til Tuesday; just incredible sound quality and every bit as relevant live as in the studio! The singular guitar style and individuality of Robert Holmes, coupled with Aimee Mann so unique on bass and lead vocals; both are what drove this band on their debut album, in a time that was just right for them and well ready in 1985. Joey Pesce also excels on keyboards and Michael Hausman on drums and percussion; enough said here! I highly recommend, as all the tracks and songs are both varied in style, and all sound both still fresh and unique, even by today's standards. If you are looking for a classic 80's new wave album as a fan of that genre, pick this one up and prepare to be taken well beyond your expectations.~
