This ones a KEEPER..!!
One of the best for small birds, I for one, DO NOT want the larger birds even in or near this feeder. The "cow birds", which are a little "larger" can squeeze through and thats "ok" but the Grackles and Blue Jays cannot feed from this feeder. (THANK GOODNESS)..!! Of course, IT IS NOT SQUIRREL PROOF but so far, they have NOT tried to open the top, BUT, IT WAS DONE BEFORE ON MY LAST ONE AND I HAD TO DRILL THE TOP AND WIRE IT SO THEY COULDN'T OPEN IT AGAIN..!! LOL. If you clean and wash it every year, inside and out, it does last. My other one of these ended up serving the bird community for 17 years. I will mention, that IF AND WHEN it rains hard, the seed near the very bottom will get soppy wet and the bird feed will GET MOLDY so...if you "can't take it inside" at least check it later and clean that out BC you will "kill the birds" with moldy feed. Being a "farmer", this is common sense for most people BUT sometimes you just don't realize that these feeders ARE NOT waterproof and water does do damage. All said, I would DEFINITELY RECOMMOND THIS FEEDER BC of it's size and it does offer protection to those little birds who need it..!! Don't pass this one up, OH one more thing, IT IS "HEAVY" WHEN COMPLETELY FULL..!!
