Easy to learn to use
For some reason, a number of reviewers have claimed it takes some time to learn how to use this sharpener to appropriately sharpen bits. I read the product instructions and sharpened approximately 15 bits the first time I used it. First, this is the "entry level" sharpener made by Darex (350X). The 500 and 750 models have features that make them more complicated. My review is of the 350X only. Second, although I sharpened my "utility' bits first, all appear to be very sharp now. Third, the only issue for me was the depth of placement of the bit in the collet. The instructions call for placing the bit in the collet and pushing it into the sharpener in a way that pushes back the bit to the appropriate depth. I found that this left too little of the bit exposed to the sharpener. However it is a simple matter to push it out slightly to get the entire faces of the bits completely ground. It doesn't take long (30 to 50 seconds) and with this device, you shouldn't have any dull bits. Unless you are a "use it and lose it" bit owner, this is a handy and useful sharpener.

Adequate quality for price
3 von 3 finden das hilfreich Packaged arrived in beat up condition but contents okay. Purchased it as a starter set of turning tools based on advertising as HSS (High Speed Steel). Nothing on the box or on the tools describes the tools origin or quality of steel. I expected and suspect that the tools were made in China and the steel may be some form of HSS but can't confirm. (HSS is a general category of steel that can be comprised of a variety of alloys and different manufacturing processes). Tool edges arrived as expected, needing shaping (grinding), sharpening and honing. Acceptable for a starter set.
