Items relivent to Stone Mountain in Georgia
As a native Southerner I am a student of its history, particular Her unsuccessful endeavor for independence during Lincoln’s administration. Nothing epitomizes that struggle more than the nearly one million valiant warriors of the old South who fought and died during the ensuing four years of war. The proposed carving on the side of Georgia’s Stone Mountain was to be a lasting memorial honoring those men and their sacrifice. I as a collector of vintage items from the early 1920's relating to the Stone Mountain Monument Association’s exhausted endeavor at funding that carving. The selling of the Stone Mountain memorial half dollar was to be a large part of the Association’s fund raising effort. The large market place offered by Ebay has afforded me the opportunity to acquire several nice pieces in my field of interest. The particular coin in question is a prime example. Thanks for asking.
