Great looking and running locomotive
Very detailed and accurate to the prototype. These are available at a good price in their DC version. I buy inexpensive 8-pin decoders and plug them right in to the motherboard. Works great.

Must-have reference for EMD F units
If you are interested in the history, technology or the operational details of early diesels, this is the first of the Strapac series to get. The Southern Pacific F units were the biggest fleet of freight and passenger locomotives and operated under the worst conditions of mountain grades and desert heat. SP stretched their locomotives to the limit hauling heavy freight drags up steep inclines and the EMD F3 and F7 diesels were the first successful replacement for the big steam engines. Lots of photos under all sorts of operating conditions. Each photo has details of the time, place and particulars. Not a thick book and filled with pictures, but it takes time to read it because the information is dense. No need to read the whole thing through. Pick it up and read a few pages and have the upper hand in a discussion of locomotives at the next train club meeting. If you are modeling the SP in the late 40's up to the 60's, this book is a must-have reference for prototype information.
