Good for new teachers
I have been teaching for over 20 years. This book is probably very useful to a new teacher, but there really wasn't anything in the book that I haven't heard many times before. I believe the book was very relevant when it was first published. I no longer teach students who can read, but just really dislike reading. I now teach many students who not only dislike reading, but can barely read, so most novels are impossible to teach without what Mr. Gallagher calls, "overteaching."

I purchased the book because my daughter and I had taken a sign language class. I like the illustrations in the book and the book seems to be pretty comprehensive.
I am a teacher and give my students free reading time. Many students look through the book and it is satisfying for me to see them practicing signing.
