Way Better Then I Expected
I've been a fan of Great White since the first time I took a chance with one of the music clubs and added their cassette to the list of bands I was ordering upon sign up. If I remember right, Once Bitten was the first thing I heard from them, and as soon as Lady Red Light started to play, I was in love with the music and the vocals of Jack Russell. Unfortunately, as things tend to go, band members go their separate ways, and Jack is now the lead singer of Jack Russell's Great White, which left the original Great White to find a new singer.
I was very, very skeptical about the change. But, I ended up getting a copy of their 2017 release Full Circle, and was blown away. That album, with Terry Illous on vocals, is amazing. So, I decided to pick up Elation, as Terry is on vocals here too. While not quite as good as Full Circle, it's still exceeded my expectations.
Look, Great White with Jack Russell on vocals is amazing, but that may never happen again. With that said, Great White made some AMAZING sounding music together, which is part of what made Jack's voice stand out so well. Even the best singer won't carry a band if they can't play their instruments. Elation, and especially Full Circle, give us the amazing musical abilities of Mark Kendall and crew, with a pretty dang good replacement for Jack. Terry is trying to be Jack, he had is own 80's band XYZ, but he sounds really good with the musical sounds this band of capable of putting out, right there pushing his vocals forward.
