Lens quality is good. But it is not potent. It should be powerful for a 10-180x100. We have an old 8-24x50 binocular and this one has a little more approach than the 10-180x100. It has a cover made of a rubber material that protects it, but I'm not sure if it's the kind of material that gets sticky after several years.
