Very good not essential Prog / prog metal Album
I am not a big IQ fan but this album is always interesting. The music has a wide variance and a wide range of dramatic effects. Very enjoyable. I think that the production is a bit muddy and not as clear as I would like. The drums seem so far back in the mix that they seem to be hiding. I know that mixing is making choices but I feel that many instruments are "hidden" from clarity.

this was a hidden gem and a huge surprise to me
Surprisingly blown away by the quality of the songs of this album. I had a number of Camel CDs 9 studio and one live but somehow I missed this one until stumbling upon it. The songs are very interesting and good. I hear The Beatles, Supertramp influences mixed in along with their own style. The sound quality is excellent. Esoteric records did a great job on the packaging and the insert. Kudos tot hem. The CD is a value with the studio album followed by a BBC studios live version of the majority of the studio album. I am extremely happy. I rate it a five because I can't think of a negative thing to say about it, music, sound quality, packaging and value are above and beyond.

New listen for me and very pleased that I found this album
I was unfamiliar with The Tangent but it was recommended to me as something that I might enjoy. And they were right. I would describe it as a PROG-ish sound with jazz influences. When I listen to it I always think of Steely Dan. Not because of the types of songs, not at all. But because the sound quality is amazingly clear with dead-on musicianship which I associate with Steely Dan.
I wouldn't recommend this to people who are "song" people but to people who are music people. There is a lot to unpack here in a listen. I think it takes a few listens to appreciate the music. I think you need to be the type of person that likes to listen to music and appreciate the musicianship. I am very happy to have found this band and this album.
