A True Russo-German War Nerd's Book...
This was a very interesting read in that it focused in great detail on varied specific aspects of the first two years of the Russ-German War...mostly.
The author begins by stating the book will mostly be from the common German soldier's perspective of the first two years...then goes on to spend some length on the common Russian soldier's perspective of the War and Germans.
The author also spends a good deal of time on uncommonly described weapons such as the self-propelled artillery and the Nebelwerfer.
We go to certain sieges and certain attacks, and also travel forward to the very end of the War to contrast a perspective from the victorious beginning.
A book written with love, care and attention-to-detail for the Russo-German War, although one I would not recommend for someone with a casual interest, but more for those who are completionists like myself.

A Brief and Topical, Yet Still Insightful Look Into Hitler's Private Life
This book was originally titled "I Cremated Hitler."
In later editions, they removed this bombastic title, however, this book is indeed mostly about author's last days wit Hitler and his cremation of him.
Or to put it simply - a refutation of the myth Hitler escaped to South America.
However, despite its coy focus on this one topic, because of the author's strength of writing and observation, the reader is still pulled through the life of an aspirational young man who achieved his dream until it became a living nightmare.
We see Hitler as a normal man, someone who was disarmingly decent, kind, caring and thoughtful to his personal staff such as the author.
In fact, Hitler is depicted as a tragic figure beset in particular by the universally reviled Martin Bormann.
The tragedy of the Jews and other persecuted peoples is not mentioned, but the author does not try to apologize for them either.
This is a simple retelling of events culminating in the suicide then cremation of Adolf and Eva Hitler.

The Eighties Stereo Instructions of the Russo-German War
I understand why so many rate this book from this author so highly - I get it, I really do.
However...
This truly read like stereo instructions from when the Japanese would translate them directly into English without seeing if it made sense.
There are NO maps in the book, and even though I am very familiar with this conflict, I became confused with WHERE the action was taking place, much less who, what type of units, what levels and so on.
It literally reads:
"32nd division joined with elements of the Eight Army and attacked Rovno from the East. This attack was soon joined with 366th Brigade."
And so on.
Thus it is in the sense of the word "complete," in that these are indeed ALL discoverable Russian military unit actions during the conflict, however, it is precious little more, and thus is more like an extensive encyclopedia entry than a book and really only for completionists for the sense of complete.
As to this edition (and there have been many) I found the typing so small that with the density of the information felt like reading the Bible in all its headache inducing.
This would only be worth buying for a completionist and for $5 or less.
