The Gannet
Overall a nice die cast model, relatively rarely depicted (I am aware of altogether three companies with the Gannet in their range). The model represents the aircraft belonging to HMS Hermes - it is quite attractive in its monochromatic, deep navy blue paint and accurately reflects the stubby, slightly ungainly appearance of its large original. For all who are interested in Royal Navy and the Fleet Air Arm, it is a delightful thing to have and display. But it is NOT a toy - the assembly is somewhat tricky (the landing gear and its doors are best glued in place), and once put together, the model, despite its substantial heft. is quite fragile. In part due to its counter rotating propeller and long and protruding arrester hook under the tail that break off quite easily when handled roughly (this is my second model: the first tipped over on its stand, fell to the floor and ended as a "constructive total loss"). Therefore, if you wish to buy a gift for a child, stay away from this model: it will not survive long. Otherwise, despite quite high price, the model is highly recommended.

The whistle
If you desperately need one because the original broke off and vanished, this comes as a rescue. It might get need a light clean-up (tiny flash on the one I got), but the price for restoring your locomotive to its original beauty is really minuscule.
