Miss the 80's? Here they are... plus explosions:)
The "maverick cop battling stupid regs and weenie superiors" bit has been done to death, but rarely better than with "Hunter". The literally explosive action is frequently interrupted by near-slapstick humor, such as in the first car chase of the pilot when a car door handle comes off in Hunter's hand, prompting his passenger to ask, "What now, Abbott?"

What could and should have been Adams' signpost album
On this follow-up to the multi-platinum "Reckless", Bryan Adams gets a little more deliberately paced. The first 3 songs are a brilliant beginning... the wiry propulsion of "Heat of The Night" and "Into the Fire" segue into "Victim Of Love", which gives off a slow burn then detonates its finale.
On the down side, "Native Son" is a nice try lyrically, but the music kind of lays there, while the verses on "Rebel" show promise that the trite chorus doesn't deliver on, and the ballad "Home Again" goes in one ear and out the other.
The two calculated crowd pleasers are the single "Hearts on Fire" and "Only The Strong Survive", which comes the closest to the up-tempo roll of Reckless.
Overall this a darn good CD. Not one song is outright bad, just some don't match the level of that opening 1-2-3 salvo. This could have been Adams' new direction if he hadn't decided to utterly sell himself out 4 years later on "Waking Up The Neighbours"

Serves as a good greatest hits package
0 von 1 finden das hilfreich The track selection is quite evenly spread among the first 4 albums. Even on the audio CD, you hear that the Tokyo crowd is pumped, and the DVD shows lead singer Toni Kakko all over the stage.
I recommend this the most for those wanting an introduction to Sonata Arctica.. pick out your favorite songs, check which albums they're from, and get them. For those who (like me) are already Sonata fans, there's nothing really new here, but the DVD performance is fun to watch.
