good mobile workstation
This is a mobile desktop/workstation. It wasn't meant to be a long lasting laptop (about 5-7 hours while browsing, writing, and watching YouTube), but it is usually long lasting enough to get from point A with an outlet, to point B with an outlet, and not worry about running out of battery. BUT, if you are doing work (video and 3D scene rendering), you'd better be plugged in. It isn't light weight, but it is light weight for what it is. It does what you would expect it to do, and it does it well.

Think Pentax Q or GoPro Ribcage...
If you use this lens with a Pentax Q, Pentax Q10, or a Ribcage modified GoPro Hero 3/4 Camcorders - you won't be disappointed. It is one of the best options for anyone using said camera for its cinematic functionality (smooth focus pulling, partial zooming, filter threads) and clarity (delivering decent results even at 2.7K/4K). You may have to do custom machine work to get a lens collar to support the weight of the lens when compared to its potential camera options. That's why this product review gets a 4/5 and not a 5/5. It is overkill for the machine inspection that it was made for.

best bang for your buck
A near carbon copy of it's successor and current industry workhorse, it's technical specifications so rival the MKH416 that they can be (and often still are) used interchangeably on professional sets without issue (performance specifications are identical - though the the 415 is said to have a slightly "warmer" sound). Though they have been discontinued, they can often be found in good working order for less than half the price of a 416 on auction style websites and in studio sales. So long as you have a converter or a mixer/amp that can provide "T" power, and purchase carefully, you'll have yourself an industry standard shotgun microphone for a budget price (that Sennheiser will still service for you).
