Internment of Japanese Americans during WWII
Part of American history that some would rather keep under wraps. Beautifully written by Sandra Dallas. Her descriptions of characters, and places makes this book compelling reading. I’ve read this book before with another bookclub in another state and are pleased to read it again with my current bookclub. Dallas is an excellent writer and one of my favorites.

Female genius sidelined by male chauvinism
Elizabeth Smith destroyed the work of Nazi spies working in South America and and who were responsible for the sinking of US ships taking much needed supplies to Europe during WWII. She was a code breaker and managed got break the codes and secret messages sent by the Nazis to their uBoats revealing the routes of US ships and thus enabling them to sink them.
She saved thousands of lives but never received the credit due to her because she was always side lined and others took the credit for her work by the likes of Edgar Hoover, head of the FBI. Both the documentary and this book are well written and restore the truth of this amazing woman’s work.
