Cheap fix
If you are looking for a cheap fix for your expensive mixer this is the way to go. My kitchenaid Mixer was 33 years old, and I didn't know if I could even get a part for it. IT worked. It is not an all metal one like the old ones were, which I was disappointed in. Kitchenaid no longer makes an all metal gear to replace them with, I hope this lasts as well as the original metal ones did. If it does, I will not have buy another mixer in my lifetime. I should give it 5 stars because when my husband put in it worked and my mixer runs just like it did when it was new. Reason for the 4 is the fact that it is not metal like original part, and I have heard that the new nylon gears do not hold up as well. As I did not have choice I was forced to by the nylon one. I will say one thing the part does work and it wasn't very expensive. You have to have someone who is very good with taking things apart in order to put the gear in, fortunately I have a husband who is willing to take things apart and work on them!
