Northern Exposure as the microcosm of humanity
Investing in the "Northern Exposure" series is like treating yourself to one of the best commentaries on humanity (with all its strengths and weaknesses). The characters who people this well-written, creative series become old friends as the series progresses through its respective seasons. The fictionalized Cicely, Alaska (much of the series was actually filmed in the small town of Roslyn, Washington) is a community that anyone would like to live in. On a philosophical level, the writers managed to build a community of people who truly care about each other in spite of their differences. Timeless in its entertainment, prophetic in the cultural issues raised, quirky enough for everyone, and enduringly heartfelt in its storylines, you'll enjoy watching and rewatching this award-winning series through the years. Definitely worth the investment!

Still good for today's culture too
1 von 1 finden das hilfreich I've been revisiting this series now that my children are raising families of their own. I watched this series with my daughter and friends when they were in high school. It's a good series and brings up many of the possible struggles young adults have as they navigate their lives after high school. The characters are well drawn and engaging. Produced by J. J. Abrams and Matt Reeves, it has the kind of believable dialogue and excellent writing you'd expect.

Never disappoints
This long-running series is a favorite of mine. I've watched it more than once and manage to enjoy it every time. If you're looking for a good family series, you should check it out. I wish there were more series like this "out there." One of the most attractive features of the series is that it's intergenerational. The characters are all believable and they deal with real-life scenarios; some are even good for showing right from wrong without being too saccharine or preachy. It's an engaging show.
