This is a high quality footswitch and was easy to modify. I use mine to key a radio transmitter.

Skipshooter antenna
I use a 1/4 wave 2 meter/440 mag mount for scanner listening and thought this might be a little more broad band with some RF gain. It really wasn't, not much of an improvement. It's rugged and well built but somewhat heavy. I'm going to install it on our CERT vehicle for scanner listening and see how it works there. That might be its permanent home.
I'm sure there are some applications where it would be a good performer. Might be real good if you live in a tall apartment building near a window and have multiple services to monitor.
It works, just not the improvement I was looking for.
