Unusual plot turn
2 von 2 finden das hilfreich I found the movie entertaining. The action was fast paced. Character development was shallow, but that's what you get with a movie that is constrained to a run time that fits TV network requirements. (SyFy production.) The story plot involves desperate efforts by the stars to prevent a Yellowstone volcano eruption from turning into an extinction level event. The government is portrayed in the usual incompetent manner that doesn't fully reflect reality, as real life government is not even this decisive. The usual man/woman & boy/girl romances occur without any deep expressions of intimacy. A family watchable movie. I won't tell you the science-fictionish plot turn that adds interest, so that you can enjoy it. I consider it worth watching and enjoyable. Special effects ok.

Better than expected
While disaster movies are a genre that leads to a lot of stereotypical elements in the plot, there is still a lot that can be done to make an engaging story. One element, of course, is that the plot is something believable and that the viewer can picture him/herself in. Another element is character development. A troubled romance seems to be a universal element. Then there is the question of the resolution of the crisis: do the hero/heroine survive? Is the solution an excursion in "deus ex machina," or is it something that seems intelligent?
Happily, these films stand up reasonably to our critique. Yes, they are low budget and it shows, but the movies are watchable and entertaining. They are worth the investment.

A pleasant surprise
I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the story and the acting of this movie. We have all seen movies made by smaller producers that were significantly sub-par. This movie had a story line that has actual basis in scientific fact, as holes in the ozone layer have opened up unexpectedly in various places, not just in Antarctica. The characters are developed and believable, and well acted. Special effects are limited but appropriate. No nudity or bad language. The device to end the ozone hole is science-fiction, but provides a happy ending.
There are some people who are too closed-minded about environmental issues to really enjoy this movie - they will label it as environmental propaganda. The rest of us can enjoy it.
