Best Boccanegra on DVD
Milnes is past his prime but still OK. The tenor sings his difficult role well, but not without some effort. Thre greatest reward comes with outstanding, exiciting singing by soprano Tomowa-Syntow who outshines all. Levine and the Met Orchestra and Chorus are excellent as usual. A must have, especially if you are Boccanegra fan.

There are some many others, much more entertaining, operas.
NOT ENTERTAINING
Entertaining only as the idiotic action on stage seems to be never ending. The man who sings Cellini should not sing opera. There are some very good arias but, on the whole, it is a bore.
