Intel Core i3-4360 3.70 GHz Processor TESTED very good condition

The little engine that could....

I bought this processor to replace an i5-4690K that was overheating (around 88 watts heat dissipation) in a tiny HTPC ITX case. With this processors 55 watt heat dissipation, it immediately booted up, and I didn't have to reload the OS. The cpu temperature was steady and well below the max allowed. With those two wins I was already happy but the performance was a touch sluggish compared to the i5. I went into the BIOS on the Asus motherboard, turned on the turbo setting, and adjusted the fans (still quiet).... voila! Now I have the same perceived performance as the i5, the heat dissipation is controlled (I must admit to changing the thermal paste) and the video is just as good. I'm happy.... this little processor has exceeded my expectations.

Small package.... great performance

This small fan seemed ideal for my application; a mini-ITX HTPC chassis not much larger than a box of cigars. The small package arrived very quickly, and I opened it to find a very nicely made fan plus an installation kit of screws, gaskets and grommets for vibration isolation, small nuts that you can tighten (or loosen) with your fingers, and two lengths of connector wires. Very complete and excellent quality. Installing the fan took less than ten minutes, although I had to use needle nose pliers to get at the lower screws in my very tight chassis. I should have done this before I installed the motherboard. On the other hand I did not know that the low profile CPU fan would not cope and I would need an additional fan to cool things down. I powered the board on and monitored the temperature. The fan was expelling air... not what I wanted and the temps climbed. I powered down and reversed the fan. This time it was quicker.... powered it up and watched. CPU temp settled down at 60deg C. I made some small adjustments to the fan rpm in the BIOS and that was it. Done... I'm happy. Fan is whisper quiet.
