These shells best fit the old *Concor/Kato PA with the least amount of trouble. I fit one to a newer Kato PA/B chassis but the aesthetic didn't look as good as with the older Concor* units. I did not have a Life Like unit to try it's fit. To get a well working unit the front coupler should be body mounted. The front ladders should be removed and replaced with brass ladder stock and mounted extended slightly beyond flush of the body, this will give free movement to the leading truck. If you fit the chassis carefully the rear truck will pivot freely (the inside of the rear ladder may need to be trimmed slightly). However these rear ladders are located inboard and should be located more to the rear of the unit and so I removed these also and moved them to where they belong (this is a little trickier than the fitting the front ladders). Overall a project worthy of the time/result ratio for this modeler. P.S. Oh yeah...if you ask nicely you may get a couple of extra "broken" shells to cut up for the pieces to make a B unit.

Katos products are second to none

This model of the famous Hiawatha passenger train is beautifully reproduced with crisp detailing and paint. With wheel bearing power pick-up from the rails the optional lighting package makes for a awesome train all light up and, also has the added benefit of extending the life of the trucks by reducing wear not to mention reducing friction. Train collectors will enjoy this set years to come.
