A Great Ribbon Mic
This mic sounds fantastic. It has depth, detail, and a lower noise floor than some ribbons I own. The low end is much more balanced than a lot of the modern ribbons that try to emulate the classics, and I find it easier to find the sweet spot because of it.
If I had an issue, it's the permanently attached cable. Not a deal breaker, but makes storage even more challenging and I'm already running out of space.

Amazing Investment.
I LOVE middle of the road priced ribbons. And with the two of these VL37s that I just bought, I have 12 ribbons total. I have Shure KSM313s, I have AEA R84s, I have a pair of Royer R101s, and a bunch of more budget ribbons, but the Samar VL37 outshines them all for a number of reasons.
#1 - Depth. Normally with the ribbons I have and others I've used, I feel like I am listening with m ears when I'm listening to a ribbon mic. With the VL37s, I feel like I'm listening through the speakers, deeper into the sound source.
#2 - There's an extra level of midrange detail. Not that it's accentuated or hyped, but just a clarity to the VL37. Maybe that explains the depth, but its very sweet.
#3 - Shape and size is on the smaller size and the clip is also small so it's such an easier mic to position and manipulate. That is very valuable on busy tracking days.
They've quickly become a workhorse, giving me the option to sell many other mics that are now sitting around doing very little. :)
