Best Purchase I Made This Year

THIS IS THE STORY EVERYONE SHOULD READ
Stories of inspiration are often all around us without us even realizing it...and, then, there are stories like this one that go beyond even inspiration. They leave you feeling better about all of humanity. They also simultaneously uplift you, enthrall you, and yet also examine yourself, wondering if you would be capable of the loving act that Everson Walls performed. It's also a story about the love of two families, which are more like one family but without the blood ties. A son who was willing to end his NFL career for his father's health and a former teammate who gave his kidney so his friend could life and his friend's son could continue playing the game they all love.
If this story is not made into a movie, no other story imagineable should ever be put on film.
Whether you're a Dallas Cowboys fan or not, is irrelevant. This is a story that transcends sports rivalries and sports in general. Everson Walls deserves to be in several Halls of Fame, not merely the Pro Football Hall of Fame. I've had the wonderful pleasure of meeting and talking with Everson. He is humble and, I'm certain, wants this story available to everyone for the tremendous good the increased awareness can have on diabetes research, organ donation, and the hope and inspiration it can provide to others faced with these situations and decisions. Having his story told is not a publicity stunt or a stroke to his ego but a sincere attempt to inspire and uplift each of us.
Everson Wall's gift to Ron Springs saved one life. Now, with the help of Kevin Blackistone, his gift of the story of their friendship and love is the opportunity for them to touch all of our lives and possibly save countless other lives in the future.
"A Gift for Ron" should replace every "tell-all, behind-the-scenes" self-promoting biography in every book store. Everson Walls' story is far more important than any "I met so-and-so and partied in the wildest places" book and should be promoted as such.
"A Gift for Ron" is a challenge for everyone. Not necessarily to make the type of gesture made by him but, to try to make a positive impact on those around us; create and maintain strong relationship bonds; and to provide inspiration simply by sharing ourselves with others.
