Cheap and cheerful
Brought the magnetic base knowing that it was at the cheap end of the market, all it had to do was hold the DTI gauge so i could measure movement on the compound slide on the lathe. When first tried the magnet didn't appear to be that powerful but turning it over revealed a rough finish to the clamp base, so a quick trip in the chuck and machined until both faces were machines parallel. Tried again and it works fine now, nice secure feeling when locked into position and holds the DTI gauge well. Personally know i wish I'd brought one with the universal joint connection to the base to aid in positioning as my lathe is just a model engineers so space is quite tight but apart from that can't fault it really.

Trestles review
Brought for use as part of a portable model railway layout, nice and sturdy once assembled. I did take the option of upgrading the nuts supplied to nylocks as not a fan of plain nuts without split washers. Another plus point is the support bars all sit the same height so minimal adjustment is required to get the layout level once assembled.
A little bulky when not required as the don't fold fully flat but that is stated in the description. As with all things they require minor tweaking and fettling for best results but for what you pay and get they're right on the money.
