Quality replacement parts for serious DIYers
This is clearly a higher-grade set of bearings than the ones that came in my front-load washer ten years ago, leading to much quieter performance than I was getting at the end of life of the old rusted, gritty bearings.. Replacing them is a project for the serious and experienced do-it-yourselfer, but with determination and patience these parts can give your machine a new lease on life.

Lovely design, effective ergonomics
Two things made me bite the hook on this trimmer: 1. the sleek styling and 2. the variable-depth whisker guard, controlled by the numbered thumbwheel in the center. This mechanism's rotation feel could be smoother, but it does the job and offers such easy trim-length control that--compared to trimmers that ship with a bunch of fiddly little snap-on guards--I'm not sure why Philips Norelco hasn't come to dominate the market on this feature alone. (And it's easy to slide out for cleaning.) I don't have a heavy beard, but for my light beard and assorted manscaping the 3500 has plenty of power and handles nimbly. It's also quiet. I have no idea about battery runtime, since I use it about ten minutes a week, but even if it required charging every day I'd keep it, because it looks so good and feels so natural in your hand.
