BBC could have done better.
6 von 6 finden das hilfreich At long last the BBC has finally made this material available after nearly 40 years of viewer demand. Unfortunately a small number of episodes are in Black and White because no one bothered to apply the telecine auto-color restore process that was actually developed at the BBC--the grain in these episodes makes it obvious that the color information is embedded and can be computer extrapolated rather than made up by an editor, and other material of similar age has been appropriately restored, so why not these?
For those with fond memories of this TV show and it's blatant Political Incorrectness, grab these discs while they are available, just in case it doesn't happen again.

Do not connect these to mains power fittings!
The units will not pass any safety testing in Europe, UK, Australia, or any other country that uses 220-240VAC.
The internal capacitor (the brown blob) floats entirely on its wiring. This means that it shakes loose during shipping and causes other damage. The resistors and the rectifier (the little black square are under-rated and if not already damaged by the capacitor are prone to burning out very quickly. For what little heat is actually produced, the ventilation is still inadequate. These show signs of being assembled by hand, and even the LED disc is not glued in properly. It can also dislodge during shipping, as per the photos. While someone like myself can replace the resistors and the rectifier with better quality ones--don't try it yourself. You are playing with an unapproved mains device and it could render your home insurance invalid.
Apart from needing better ventilation, the actual casing is fairly well made. The LED disc is very well made, but of little use when everything is likely to fall apart or burn out..
The only reason I have to purchase these particular units is because I can harvest the White LEDs much more cheaply than if I attempt to purchase them as individual components.
Again, if you are thinking of connecting these directly to the mains, you risk electric shock and fire.
