Use gasket sealer around the outer diameter to seal it with the tub.
These seals -3,4,5 part numbers over 20 years- are all the same manufacturer part number- all have very loose fit with tub. Only 1 video/website of a dozen recommends a sealant. Definitely use a moderate bead of sealant on the outer diameter seal with the tub. I tried no sealant and it leaked, with a 1/4" bead and good drying period it does not leak.
