You need this!
There are many Commodore PSU's out there, nearly all of them coming up on 30 years old and with an unfortunate tendency to break c64's.
Bought this one to get ahead of the curve, simply by going for something newer instead. No guarantees that your C64 will last, but atleast you gave it your best shot by feeding it power from something a little more modern.
This one comes with the ability to power the 1541-II drive from the same brick. A little fiddly to get it to fit since original plugs are no longer being produced, just need to find an edge and ease it into place. Another ancient PSU you can safely get rid off, just one less thing to worry about!

Excellent book!
While the choice of microprocessor, the MOS 6802, might be offputting to readers today, the book does explain the basics very well and at the end it's gone beyond most books on the subject. Most code and schematics are easily adapted to the 6502, so if you want to create your own 8-bit computer this book is a good secondary pickup for when you want to go beyond the basics or want a supplemental guide.
