Small and takes great pictures
This is a True Canon with excellent optics that produces very good photos.
I will create this review in the form of comparison to another Canon point and shoot I use-A720IS.
SIZE: The 1400 is small enough to fit in a shirt pocket. It gets lost in a normal small carrying case. The A720 is the size of the others in this family like the A620. It will not fit in a shirt pocket. It is best carried in either a case or on the provided strap.
PICTURE TAKING: 1400 difficult to hold unless you have small hands and fingers. A720 designed so right side of camera is raised for a hand hold. Both use easy to find AA batteries. 1400 uses 2; 720 uses 4.
Both have a combination of view finder and screen. The 1400 has the option of turning off the screen and use view finder only.
Flash recycling (estimate-not precisely measured):1400 5-8 secs; 720 2-3 secs
CAMERA FEATURES: 1400-auto plus 4 visible modes, movie separate button on back. 720-auto plus 12 modes
720 is 5x optical zoom (Image Stabilization) at 16 mega pixels. 5-25mm lens.
1400 is 6x optical zoom at 8 mega pixels. 5.8-34.8 mm lens
PHOTO PROCESSING: 1400 no special program-whatever is built into computer operating system. 720 uses program provided by Canon on provided disc.
WHY BUY? I bought this camera as a back-up for the 720. It is a Canon with a view finder. I started many years ago with the Canon AE-1 and found it was too big for its use on hikes and climbing. Went to the 620 which I sold and bought the 720 and then the 1400.

Poor product
I spent 2 hours trying to transfer the cable channels to the television. Nothing worked. I ended up returning the television.

Canon Camera
0 von 3 finden das hilfreich I thought this is an improvement over the A620. I was wrong. The preview screen in the back does not rotate inward to protect the screen from damage. The 620 does.
There is no way to connect a strap to carry the camera.
Finally, with rechargeable batteries I could only take 19 photos. With the 620 take at least 50.
Camera was returned to seller who gave me a refund.
