Probably the best portable MD Recorder Sony ever made!
A brilliant little MD Recorder/Player. IMHO probably the best portable MD recorder Sony made, although its a close call with the R50. Compact, sturdy metal construction, logical front panel button placement and it still has a separate Line Out. Excellent audio quality and long battery life add to the appeal of this classic MD Recorder. Later MD Recorders went downhill in the ongoing effort to reduce cost and were often rushed out to market resulting in flawed units. Not so with the R50 and R55 which Sony built in 1998 and incorporated lessons learnt from the preceding R3, R30 and R35 units. Only downside I can think of is the plastic battery cover is not very sturdy and can often get loose or break off with repeated use. You really can't go wrong if you can find a good quality example of this classic.

Great functionality and excellent value for money
Apple are alone among smartphone vendors in having a 6 year old phone that can still run the latest operating system (iOS6.1 at time of writing)albiet with one or two feature ommissions. Beats me why anyone would fork out £600 or more for a new iPhone 5 when 90% of the functionality can be had with a 3GS running the latest version of iOS... at a quarter of the price for a good quality example. The only minor downside is that the battery life is relatively poor especially when running GPS and WiFi. I managed to get around this by buying a lightwieght battery case brand new for £2.99. Plenty of offers around on the XtremeMac and Case-Mate battery cases that are also sleek and make the excellent industrial design of the 3GS look even better IMHO. Sure the iPhone is lighter and iPhone 4 arguably sleeker but for sheer value for money and as a tried and tested entry into the iPhone experience you just can't beat the iPhone 3GS

Classic Android still very usable today!
Great form factor, smooth operataion and lovely transparent notification/light strip this last of the Sony Ericsson mobile phones is IMHO a true classic and yet still useable today with modern apps. Ericsson made some great phones in thier day and ths represents the last of the Ericsson branded phones before Sony dropped it in favour of just Sony branding. Also known as the Sony Xperia S it still carries the green Sony Ericsson jewel brand logo. Will handle just about all modern apps despite being only upgradeable to Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean. A little slow by todays standards but handles all the standard tasks like email, web browsing, music, txting and of course phone calls just fine.
