Great for the price point. Good construction,
Definitely cannot turn it up all the way or my neighbors would complain. Tiny bit of noise floor hiss that you cannot hear when you turn up the music. If you research on YouTube, there are some tutorials on fixes on how to make this amp perform better and even be quieter if you're electronically inclined. I'm buying a second one to tinker around with and modify for fun great gift to give to somebody.

I heard sounds and music effects in the original recordings I've never heard before.
2 von 2 finden das hilfreich The HD 800 are very precise clinical listening devices they will pick out any flaw in a recording or subpar equipment that is used with them or compressed audio files should not be used with them. They were not designed to work with smart phones but they will work and sounded very nice and they were not designed to work directly out of the laptop but you will still hear things you probably didn't hear on average headphones. I have a DarkVoice 336se tube AMP to tone down and smooth the highs, I can roll tubes with to change the tonality of my music with a tube amp. HD 800 are well known not to have a heavy hitting tumpy bass, to add bass today HD 800 I recently purchased the IFI Black Label with the option to boost base at the push of a button. The IFI Black Label also has a DAC built in to clean up and smooth the digital audio that you may have coming from your smart phone or laptop to feed your HD 800. For those of you who do not know high impedance headphones must have an amplifier to hear the full potential of their abilities if you're using a smart phone or a computer as a source. Your audio source definitely has to be a Flac or Lossless file, if you use compressed MP3 digital format you will hear the difference. if you like headphones with deep loud booming bass like Beats headphones or Dr. Dre something that actually doesn't sound like real music then these are not the headphones for you.
When I first place these headphones on and listen to a familiar old track I had to listen twice because I couldn't believe the new sounds I was hearing, so when the song came to an end I went back to the beginning and took a second listen to confirm what I thought I heard.

Pioneer SP – BS22 – LR to a 30-year-old Harman Kardon AVS10 surround sound speaker 3 inch driver outperformed the pioneer both and clarity and high-end treble. Comparison to my hand built Fostex FE206En full range speaker only has a normal music power wattage of 30 W in my hand build cabinet BK-20 that I assembled myself completely crashes the Pioneer SP – BS22 – LR speakers absolutely no comparison. i’ve watched so many review were‘s online and You Tube gave bolstering positive reviews about the pioneer speakers this is why I bought them I was disappointed. Are used three different source amplifiers for testing. A cheap little S.M.S.L SA–90 for test#1, marantz 2218 only 18W per channel drove the pioneers into distortion very easily had to turn down the bass to keep it from cracking and snapping the speakers Test #2. Nelson Pass class A Amp Camp Amp 8 W per channel Test #3. In all three tests with all three amplifiers both Harman Kardon and the Fostex BK 20 speakers we’re completely clear crisp control base without distortion when the volume level is turned up. The pioneer SP – BS22 – LR speakers were only clear had very low volume without any bass boost as soon as you try to turn up the volume level the cracking and snapping and popping sound from the bass speakers would start. Test music used were Flack files and HD recording’s. Jazz, 60s rock, classical, and new age. sourced through Microsoft surface pro 4 and iPhones 6S through a ifI Black Label DAC into all 3 Amps for comparison. sadly to say the pioneers failed on all three amplifiers in every genre of music. For $66 I paid I would say they are almost worth this much money if you were going to give them to your grandmother who has sensitive hearing and will only listen at low volume in a very quiet room in this case they are good but only in the situation.
