This book is great and not too overwhelming for anyone who wants to learn about the civil war and the time period it was fought in.
This book was available in my Elementary schools library. I remember pouring over the illustrated maps reading the numerically represented positions time wise as the battles progressed throughout the day. Yes, you could say it is nostalgic, but for the modern reader it offers a break from this time and takes you back to a time when...well the future of the United States was in question. I hope new readers really look at this book as a more comprehensible version of a very complicated time in our nations history and enjoy the writing, photos, and of course the illustrations.
