Excellent upgrade for an older PC.
Apart from upgrading from HD to SSD, this was the best value for money upgrade I could have done to breath a new life to my ageing PC. I can see the boost from 2.4GHz to 3GHz and already planning to overclock the Xeon to at least 4GHz (pending cooling upgrade).
The temps are low and the CPU reacts well to slight overclock. Running it @3.6GHz at the moment (FSB @400MHz with 9x multiplier) and there is no significant increase in idle/load temps, comparing to stock 3GHz
The price comparing to 3 GHz 775 Q9650, which goes for twice as much (at least), is a no-brainer.
The mod works a treat and all I had to do is to update my BIOS with microcodes for the 771 socket and cut the 775 socket to fit the Xeon. Simple enough.
Highly recommended!
