What's not to like?
1 von 1 finden das hilfreich Best receiver I have ever owned - and I have owned quite a few in my seven decades. My hearing is still excellent in case that's what you are thinking. The Sonic Holography works very well with some music, not so much with others. Over-produced music can sound weird with it. The B speaker Ambiance adds yet another dimension by making one rear speaker left + right and the other left - right. There is plenty of power unless you a real knuckle dragger in which case, a real, high - fidelity component like a Carver is not for you. The FM reception is very good and made better by the ACCD (Asymmetrical Charge-Coupled FM Detector). I also like the fact that it has not just bass and treble controls but a midrange control as well. It also has a Loudness Contour button - something rare and even rarer is one that works correctly and I seriously doubt that Carver would install a Loudness circuit that didn't. The Phono stage seems very nice after listening to a few LPs. To get a modern receiver that sounds as good as this and is as well built would cost well over $1,000. I got mine for approximately 10% of that as an "as is for repair" unit. It had dents to the cover and a bent faceplate which were easy to straighten out - another testament to the build quality.

No frills. High power, low weight.
It is what it is. It's an industrial amplifier. It makes a pop when turned on. Otherwise, it's what you would expect from Crown. Powerful, rugged, neutral.

Good 'ol Marantz quality
Although dated, if you want an excellent sounding 7.1 receiver and can find one that hasn't been abused and is in good working order you won't be disappointed. With 80 REAL watts per channel it will play loudly enough to make neighbors complain. Sound quality is squeaky clean - enough to rival Marantz amps from the "golden age." I have two of these. One finally was retired after daily use for more than a decade. It still worked but developed a dead channel and startup noise. The other still works perfectly.
