TomTom GO 550 LIVE
I wanted a replacement for my old Tom Tom One and looking around it was the top of the range model for UK maps a lot cheaper than inferior models in thier range.The price was a steal a saving of about 80 pounds, it's a refurb/ex Display model but everything was still wrapped in the protective film and cable tide instruction still sealed,it was only the box that was tatty with managers special written over it.
I'd read on another site about this offer that you would not get the up to date maps or the free live service ,so this made it look like a bad deal in thier eyes,but I thougt it was worth it for the other features it had and the maps the maps are still going to be fairly new anyway I registered the tom tom and updated the software and guess what, I got the up to date map too and the live service for 12months ,so those that slated the deal got it wrong.
For those with older Tom Toms like myself this is something radically different.First of all you can talk to it and it will navagate you to an address or a favourite, tell you the weather forecast for where your going and let you know of any hold ups like road works,congestion or accidents, and of course speed cameras.It will read out street names and roads as you turn in to them and let you know if you are speeding on all roads as it knows the speed limits.The live service is free to stsrt but you will pay for after the years up,something I probably wouldnt have signed up for but now I've being using it it's worth it . like everything it's good to have the chance to try it first,so well done TOM TOM.
One benifit is it will find a quicker route if there is delays, this will slow it down while it's checking.You can even see the traffic flow if you select it the movements on the maps are like marching ants colour coded to indicate flow in these areasfrom grey to Red, meaning not moving with symbols like accident or road works. It will let you know how long etc, I found that when driving towards it, the time will come down as it could just be the rush hour or the accident clears.
I set it to automaticaly change and found that driving out of London it was great that it saw an incident a found a route around it so you don't get stuck in traffic jams.A bit disconcerting as you will turn off main roads into housing estates ,but it will get you home.You can change this options if you want to make those decision yourself.Lots of things you can change on the preferences for the whole of the tom tom more than my previous model.
In my case a big makeover from my Tom Tom and with IQ routes it finds the fastest route from users, as we all probably know of a rat run that beats the fastest route on previous models, this one knows them and in fact I.ve learnt some new ones .Lane guidence for those a bit wary of multilane junctions will see on the task bar the lane you should be in, and on major junction the whole display changes ,so no more getting stuck in the wrong lane.On balance a big improvement all round with this model.If I did do a lot of driving I would recommend the live service. Voice recognition is a bit flaky and it is probably quicker to input routes manually ,how much easier it is to turn down the volume as you still have to touch the screen to talk to it.One last thing when you register your tom tom they send you a voucher code for 10 pounds that you can use must use within ^ months.From what I've saved I intend put my voucher towards the European maps.

Didn't Work
Tried it twice. Didn't work .Prints but all colors washed out and Send a piece of kitchen roll .Blotting paper would be better left a right mess.

Fast at heating up a room.

Cons: Does cut out a lot, don't no why,Display flashes and you have to switch it off to re-set
