So far, so good
We had a different model of First Alerts that were installed by the builder. One by one, they started going bad at 3-4 years of age. They would do 3 quick chirps every 10 seconds or so, and you cannot shut it off. It drove our dog (and us) crazy. So I am hesitant about recommending another First Alert product. However, this has very good reviews and no mention of the 3-chirp phenomenon. We ordered one and had no issues installing it, so we came back for 7 more and changed out the whole house. Keeping our fingers crossed.

Great except 2 details

1. I can see the buttons in the dark so no more accidentally recording a show when I meant to press Guide button!
2. Seems well made
CONS - deducted one star for:
1. As others have noted, the little button on the left side that activates the light is too small and only works when pressed in a certain way. This is an annoyance but not enough to make me dislike the product.
2. It was very difficult for me to figure out how to program it to work my soundbar. The TV would show up in the program menu but not the soundbar. After searching instructions online, I finally figured out that I needed to turn the soundbar off and then on again during the programming setup so it could be found.
