solid tracker
Currently (2017), the vivofit 1 is a fabulous value. It does everything you need it to do, the step counting is super accurate, and the fitness band integrates with the latest version of the garmin app. the style is definitely utilitarian, but colored bands are easy to get, and at this price point, it's ok if it's not the most stylish.

current technology on the cheap - and secure
Very good price for a modern 802.11ac wireless access point/gateway. Good DD-WRT support too - so you can be relatively assured of consistent updates.
