Story over simulation

Quite different than Dungeons and Dragons. The game is more focused on the story than the math behind the story. D&D spends a lot time on simulation and accounting. Needing to know reams of rules and how does a DM finds a stat to simulate wind speed of a laden swallow. The Strange is more concerned about how the story gets told and keeping the rules subjugated to the story. They're there to help the story gets told, not get in the way of it.
