Finally...the shorts I've been searching for!
I wear 5.11 Tactical TDU pants on a daily basis. The expandable elastic waistband is perfect for IWB concealed carry. I don't have to order extra inches in the waist to accommodate a holster.
These shorts have the same elastic waistband and comparable pocket space to my tried and true TDU pants and are about as close to being a "short version" of the TDU pants that I could find.
I'm very happy with these shorts, shipping speed, price, color, fit... everything about them is perfect for my needs

5.11 Tactical TDU Pants 74003
I've worn these exclusively for the past 5 years. I used to wear Medium/Regular and am replacing each pair with Large/Regular, as I've gained weight as I've gotten older.
I've tried plenty of different tactical pants, mainly for their durability. I have some that look new after 2 years of heavy wear.
The main reason I wear these over other styles and brands is the expandable waist. If you carry a firearm in an Inside the Waistband holster, you have to add at least an extra 2 inches to your waist size to accommodate the extra bulk. What about when you aren't carrying? There's no way I will buy pants in 2 different sizes, one size for carrying and one size when not. This was a dilemma with other tactical pants that came in a specific waist size. Now, the waistband fits when not carrying and expands for when I do choose to carry.
Other than that they are super durable and teflon coated...small amounts of liquid rolls right off. I appreciate the side pockets, which have a divider meant for rifle mags, but also keeps things on side pockets organized and prevents the weight of objects from causing the pockets to sag.
I also like the velcro lining in each side pocket. I put hook side velcro on kydex knife sheaths for fixed blade knives and just stick it to the velcro inside the pocket.
At full retail of around $50, these are a bargain due to how long they last. I usually find them around $35 new on eBay. I guarantee that these will last longer than any other pants at this price point!
I like these so much I don't even own a pair of denim jeans anymore. I have several pair that I wear for casual dress and they work for business casual, as well, with a nice polo or button up shirt.
