Competent and interesting in the 1940's mode.
This film is well-crafted and competently acted, and the beauty and grace of Deanna Durban is what made it for me. Gene Kelly goes against his usual grain to be the bad guy, and I am glad I bought it.

Satisfying and richly accounted.
I bought a modest paperback edition and it was well-written and fast paced. Mama Cass is a captivating subject - every page full of anecdote. Those lovers of that mellow voice will enjoy it. Alas her life was cut too short. But I enjoyed it so much that I played most of her hits over and over again..

It's like watching an Oscar winner of a movie that goes on and on.
It's a marvellously interesting story. We watch one episode every evening and look forward to the unfolding and at times quite complex story. What will I do when it is finished? Well, I will put it away for six months, and then watch it all through again - it's so enjoyable - the best series ever so far. Wonderful acting, wonderful pacing, wonderful story line, wonderful sets.
