It works very well. The outside finish is a bit rough, but the jaws are good. Shipping was relatively fast. Worth the selling price.

A quality CO2 sensor at an economical price point.

This is a compact, well-designed instrument for measuring carbon dioxide (CO2) concentration in air. The sensor can be ordered in several measurement ranges, up to 0-10%. An I/O cable is included. The unit has an easy interface with three options for the output: analog voltage, PWM duty cycle, and digital UART serial communication. I use the UART output to a microcontroller which is easy to implement and works fine. The manual gives a pretty good explanation of how to use the instrument, but could use a bit of editing for english speakers. However, it's enough to get you going. An important point is that the design of this instrument incorporates a dual-wavelength approach, rather than a single-wavelength more typical of lower-priced CO2 sensors. Dual-wavelength is typical of higher-performance analysers, and means that a non-absorbing wavelength is included as a reference wavelength in addition to the CO2-absorbing wavelength. This results in a final measurement which is based on the CO2/Ref ratio rather than on the single CO2-absorbing wavelength alone. The dual-wavelength reduces common mode errors and results in a more stable and accurate measurement. Some years ago I purchased one of these analysers for use in a research project. After several years of storage I got it out again, wired it up to a microcontroller, applied power, and immediately got good CO2 readings which compared well with a laboratory CO2 analyser. In addition to the instrument itself, I have found the manufacturer (Winsen) to be very responsive to questions about the unit. I have worked with infra-red CO2 measurement for a number of years, and from what I have seen I would recommend this analyser as a good instrument at an economical price point.
