Brilliant performance
Pinpoint, sparkling technique that is just astounding. I hear notes I never noticed before which opens up these pieces in a new way. And just the right interpretation - an expert performance by Chamayou. So glad I found this recording.

Many "hits" and a few "misses"
2 von 2 finden das hilfreich The three stars are for the lovely professional choirs on this CD - namely Kings College Cambridge, Taverner Choir, etc... There are also songs performed by the actors of Downton Abbey themselves which I wasn't expecting and I found those to be hard to listen to. The "Downton Christmas Suites" are merely the theme music to the television series which is fine, but jerks you out of the Christmas mood. You can find most of these carols sung by beautiful choirs on many Christmas albums out there, however there are one or two on this compilation not often recorded, so overall a nice collection with many "hits" and a few "misses".

Engaging and very educational
Without being overly scholarly, the authors vividly explain the foreshadowing of the coming Messiah as symbolized in the feasts given by God to the Israelites after their escape from Egypt. I have used this book as a reference countless times and enjoy the illustrations and personal accounts peppered throughout the book. While not comprehensive in its scope, it is the ideal introduction of these holy days to the novice.
