Essentially chrome-finish plastic these covers are functional, easy to fit and look OK. However, they do not have a long life if your wife insists on removing them to clean 'properly'.

Great value
Excellent value. A great way to get a good selection of this genre at a knockdown price. Given the age of the original recordings the sound quality is very good.

Life in another age
This book is an eclectic mix of short articles about aspects of life in a small lead mining community in Allendale in the pre-TV age. If you know the area then it is a fascinating insight into life in the valley in times past and it is interesting as a comparison with the present day. Even if you don't know the North Pennines but are interested in life as it was lived in a remote upland area in times past then there will be many details which inform and delight. There is little coherence to the subjects included but I found virtually all the items to be of interest other than the author' rather self-indulgent use of poems about the area, mainly her own. Having bought the book as a possible source of background information on ancestors who had lived in Allendale I was not disappointed. After reading it I felt it had given a good picture of homes, work, schools and religion as well as the community as a whole. The book is well illustrated with old photographs.
