Nikon D90

Great dslr... lots of features and takes excellent quality pictures. I was looking to up-grade from a D70. Initially I was looking at the D300 (a manual camera) but decided on the D90 not only for the presets it offers but also between the two, picture quality is pretty much the same(I did a lot of research into this). Also great in low light. I love this camera. The D90 has 'video capabilities' thus limited in function although the quality of output is lovely (see some D90 video's on youtube), it does take a lot of practice to do it well. Best advice, this is first and foremost a dslr... the video option appears to be just tagged on I guess for marketing purposes. The D90 is an excellent dslr and I am personally extremely happy with the up-grade from my D70. Now to check it out with some of my other D70 len's...

D-R17DT - Do I like it?

It's a great looking recorder... very sleek and smart. It's easy to set up... plug it in and follow the on-screen instructions... it will automatically tune in freeview for you. Instruction booklet is comprehensive...being a complete numpty technically I need an abc guide... Upscaling to 1080 is great but you will need to use a good quality hdmi lead... even to 720 it looks good... so if your tv is not full hd, picture quality is clear and detailed @ 720. It has played all the discs I have tried... divx as well and seems OK.. with great upscaling quality. I have only used the 2 hour recording facility... absolutely fine... and as you would expect... I only use dvd- discs and have no problem... My only concern is the on-screen menu... could do with a redesign... not very pretty to look at... although editing on a dvd-rw is fine... Good value...
