A captivating read & one of my favorite books
An ex-Civil War army Caption travels throughout the sparsely populated & dangerous territory of Texas, to read the news to small communities who have no access to newspapers. He is reluctantly persuaded to take a young German girl, who was kidnapped by the Kiowa people, & return her to her relatives. Their journey is fraught with life and death challenges, and slowly, the two establish a bond. Now one of my all-time favorite books, it deals with a little known period where there were traveling news readers, and also gives an insight into the Plains Indians' raids in Texas. Ultimately though, it is a story of two compelling characters traversing this landscape & developing a caring relationship.

A great classic musical
Kiss Me Kate is one of Hollywood's great classical musicals, a story-within-a-story. A divorced couple performing Taming of the Shrew onstage and offstage. Add a wonderful performance by Keenan Wynn and James Whitmore, mistakenly come during the performance to collect a gambling debt. The film is also notable for the great Bob Fosse part in choreographing part of the grand finale dance section, which is considered one of the best in musical film.

An intelligent unconventional Italian detective series not to be missed
Based on the famous Italian detective series, Inspctor Montalbano is a beautifully made, interesting & intelligent series with charismatic & endearing characters. Set in a fictional town in Sicily, Actor Lucio's portrayal of Chief of Police, Montalbano is described as sharp and unconventional. Each stand-alone episode has two converging plot lines. Sicily is a great environment in which to see the stories unfold and learn more about its culture. The series has a very high IMDb rating and it's not hard to see why. Spoken in Italian, with short, concise subtitles, it allows time to study the action which is a plus. It is my favorite detective series by far.
